Solitaire is a whole family of card games, not just one. Everyday Games has 14 of them, all free in your browser with no download. Here’s what makes each one different, so you can find your favorite.

The classics

  • Solitaire (Klondike): the one most people know. Build down in alternating colors and send cards home by suit. Draw 1 is gentler, Draw 3 harder, and there’s Vegas scoring and a winnable daily deal.
  • Spider: two decks, ten columns, and full suits from King to Ace to clear. Play with 1, 2 or 4 suits for easy, medium or hard.
  • FreeCell: every card face up and four free cells to work with. Almost every deal can be won, so it’s all skill.

Quick and relaxing

  • TriPeaks: clear three peaks by playing cards one higher or lower than the last. Fast, with chain bonuses.
  • Pyramid: pair cards that add up to 13 to take the pyramid apart.
  • Golf: clear the table one card up or down from the waste.
  • Clock: pure luck, laid out like a clock face, with an auto play button.
  • Accordion: squeeze a row of 52 cards into a single pile.

For a challenge

  • Yukon: like Klondike, but any face-up card can move with the cards on top of it.
  • Forty Thieves: two decks, one card at a time, and very few spare spaces.
  • Scorpion: build full runs of a suit, moving any face-up card with everything on it.
  • Canfield: a 13-card reserve and foundations that start at a random rank. Famously tough, but every deal here can be won.
  • Baker’s Dozen and Beleaguered Castle: every card face up, pure planning.
