The goal

Turn the start word into the target word by changing one letter at a time, in as few steps as you can.

Playing

Your next word starts as your last one. Tap a letter to select it, type a new letter, then press Enter.
Each step must change exactly one letter, keep the others in place, and make a real word: COLD → CORD → CARD → WARD → WARM.
Letters already in the right place for the target turn green.

Scoring

Every puzzle has a par: the fewest steps it can be done in.
Solve it in par without hints for 3 stars, within two steps of par for 2, and any way at all for 1.
Every step counts, including ones you undo.

Help

Undo takes back your last word. Hint adds the next word on a shortest route (it counts as a step).
Give up shows a shortest route and counts as a loss.

Easy uses 4-letter words, Normal 5, Hard 6 and Expert 7.

Yes. WordCrawl on Everyday Games is free and plays in your web browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to download.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play without signing in, and your stats and games in progress are saved in your browser. Sign in with Google or Apple to keep them in your account and pick up where you left off on any device.

What modes does WordCrawl have?

You can play Easy, Normal, Hard or Expert. Your record (games played, wins and best results) is kept separately for each.
