In WordCrawl you turn one word into another by changing one letter at a time, and every step must be a real word. Par is the fewest steps possible. These habits get you there more often.
Keep the green letters
Letters already in the right place for the target turn green. Changing a green letter usually means changing it back later, which costs two steps. Work on the other letters first.
Work backwards from the target
Think of words one letter away from the target, then words one letter away from those. Meeting in the middle is often easier than pushing forward blindly.
Use vowels as stepping stones
Swapping a vowel opens up lots of words: BAND, BEND, BIND, BOND. When you are stuck on a consonant, changing the vowel next to it often gives you a way through.
Common endings are your friends
Words ending in -ING, -ED, -ER or -S have many neighbors, so they make good middle steps on longer puzzles.
Rare letters like Q, X and Z have few neighbors. Get rid of them early, or keep them if the target has them in the same place.
Undo and hints cost steps
Every step counts, even ones you undo, and a hint adds a step and takes the third star. Try a few words in your head before pressing Enter.
