How to play Echo

Watch the pattern of lights, then play it back. It grows every round.
Play Echo

The goal

Watch the pads light up in order, then play the pattern back. Every round adds one more step. How long a pattern can you remember?

Playing

  • Press Start. While the label says Watch, the pads light up one at a time and taps are ignored.
  • When it says Your turn, tap the pads in the same order. On a keyboard, use 1–4 or the arrow keys (clockwise from the top left).
  • Get it right and the same pattern plays again with one new step on the end.
  • Each pad has its own color, shape and corner: green circle, red triangle, blue square and yellow star.

Ending a run

  • One wrong tap ends the run, and the pad you needed flashes.
  • Take too long over a tap and the run ends too: the bar under the label shows the time left.
  • Your score is the longest pattern you played back in full.

Modes

  • Classic: the pattern grows by one each round and plays a little faster as it goes.
  • Fast: shorter flashes, and only 2 seconds for each tap.
  • Reverse: play the pattern back last step first.
  • Your best score is kept separately for each mode. On the web you can turn the tones on or off with the speaker button.
