How to play Unblock

The goal

Sliding

• The lot is 6 squares by 6. Cars are 2 squares long and trucks are 3.
• Each vehicle slides only forward and back along its own lane, never sideways or through another vehicle.
• Drag a vehicle to slide it. It snaps to the nearest square when you let go.
• Slide the red car all the way to the gap in the curb on the right and it drives out.
• On a computer you can also press Tab to pick a vehicle and the arrow keys to slide it. Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on a Mac) undoes and R restarts.

Moves and par

• One slide is one move, however far the vehicle goes. Sliding the same vehicle again straight after counts as the same move.
• Par is the fewest moves the level can be solved in. Every level has been checked by a computer solver.
• Undo takes back your last move, and Restart puts the lot back as it started.

Levels

• Levels go from easy to expert, ordered by par. Clear one to unlock the next, and use the Levels button to replay any you have reached.
• The clock starts with your first move. Your best time and fewest moves are kept for every level.
• You score 100 points per par move, scaled down if you take more moves than par.

Tips

• Work backward: see what blocks the red car, then what blocks that vehicle, and so on.
• Trucks across the red car's path are usually the key. Find room for them to move up or down.
• Sometimes a vehicle has to move away from where you want it, to let something else through first.
