Play Sliding Puzzle

The goal

Slide the numbered tiles back into order, 1, 2, 3… left to right and top to bottom, with the gap in the last corner.

Sliding

  • Tap a tile in the same row or column as the gap to slide it, and every tile between it and the gap, one square toward the gap.
  • Or swipe on the board (or press the arrow keys or W, A, S, D) to move the tile next to the gap that way.
  • Undo takes back your last slide.

Tips

  • Tiles are colored by the row they belong in.
  • Solve the top row first, then the next, and finish the last two rows a column at a time.
  • Every puzzle is shuffled so it can always be solved.

Boards and records

  • 3×3 is a quick warm-up, 4×4 is the classic and 5×5 is a long one.
  • Each tile that moves counts as a move. Your best time and fewest moves are kept for each board.
