The goal

Beat the computer in a paddle-and-ball duel: first to 7 points wins the match.

Playing

  • Your paddle is at the bottom, the computer’s at the top.
  • Drag anywhere on the board to move your paddle (or use the mouse, or the left and right arrow keys).
  • Tap (or press Space) to serve the first ball.

The ball

  • The ball bounces off the side rails, so you can bank shots off them.
  • Where the ball meets your paddle sets its angle: the edges send it out wide, the middle sends it straight back.
  • Every hit makes the ball a little faster, so long rallies get tense.

Scoring

  • Get the ball past the computer’s paddle to win a point; let it past yours and the computer scores.
  • Whoever lost the point serves next, after a short pause. Tap to serve straight away when it’s yours.
  • Choose Easy, Normal or Hard from New game. Harder computers move faster, react sooner and aim better.
  • Leave mid-match and you carry on from the same score. Starting a new match mid-way counts as a loss.
