Sky Hop is a one-tap arcade game. A little round bird is always falling, and every tap gives it a quick hop upward. Columns scroll toward you with a gap between them, and your job is to fly through as many gaps as you can. It takes a few seconds to learn and a long time to master.
The basics
Tap anywhere on the field to start. From then on the bird falls unless you hop. On a computer you can click, or press Space, the Up arrow or W.
Pairs of columns, one rising from the ground and one hanging from above, slide in from the right. Fly through the gap between them to score a point.
What ends a run
Touching either column of a pair, including the rounded caps at the edge of the gap.
Falling onto the ground.
Flying up into the top of the sky. Too many taps in a row are as dangerous as too few.
Scoring and speed
You score one point for each pair of columns you pass. There is no finish line: the goal is to beat your best score.
As your score rises, the columns come a little faster and a little closer together, up to a limit.
Each gap is placed at random, but never more than a hop or two away from the last one, so every gap can be reached.
Easy mode has wider gaps. Easy and Normal each keep their own best score.
Controls
Phone or tablet: tap anywhere on the field. The hop happens the moment your finger touches the screen.
Computer: click, or press Space, Up or W. Holding a key down counts as one hop.
Press P or Escape, or use the pause button, to pause. Tap again to carry on.
Tips for a higher score
Tap in a calm, steady rhythm. One hop lifts the bird about the height of a third of a gap, so let it drop a little between taps.
Aim to cross each gap a little below its middle. It is easier to hop up out of trouble than to stop a climb.
Look at the next gap, not the bird. As soon as you clear one pair, start drifting toward the next.
Once the columns speed up, keep your taps small and frequent rather than making big climbs.
