Lights Off is a grid of lights where every tap flips a light and its neighbors. Your goal is simple to say and tricky to do: turn every light off. Here is how it works and how to get good at it.
The rules
Tap any light to flip it and the lights directly above, below, left and right of it. Lit lights go dark and dark lights come on. Lights on the edge or in a corner have fewer neighbors, so they flip fewer lights.
The puzzle is solved when every light on the grid is off.
Modes and par
Easy is a 4×4 grid, Normal is 5×5 and Hard is 6×6.
Every puzzle is made by pressing lights on a dark grid, so it can always be solved.
Par is the fewest presses that can solve the puzzle. Matching it is the real challenge.
Your best time and fewest moves are saved for each mode.
Two facts that make it easier
The order of your presses never matters: pressing A then B gives the same grid as B then A.
Pressing the same light twice cancels out. So any solution is just a set of lights to press once each, and you never need to press a light more than once.
A method that always works: chase the lights down
Start at the top row. For every light that is on, press the light directly below it. That turns the top light off without touching the rest of the top row.
Repeat row by row until only the bottom row has lights on.
If the bottom row is not clear, try different presses in the top row, then chase the lights down again. With practice you will learn which top-row presses clear each bottom-row pattern.
Controls and help
Undo takes back your last press, and Restart puzzle puts the grid back as it was dealt.
Hint highlights one press from a shortest solution. Follow hints all the way and you will finish in par.
On a keyboard, move with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D, press Space or Enter to flip a light, H for a hint and Z to undo.
